Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Import Contacts Files From SD Card in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

There are some conditions when you will probably need to import contacts files or .vcf files in your SD card to your contacts list, for instance when you need to add some contacts in .vcf file that has been sent by others to your contacts list, or when you have backed up your contacts list as .vcf file in your SD card and need to re-add them to your contacts list. Fortunately, the stock Contacts app has the feature which will let you import a single contact file or multiple contacts files in your SD card to your contacts list at once.

How to import vCard files from the SD card to the phone storage?
Basically, you can import vCard files or .vcf files in your SD card to your phone storage or other accounts(e.g: Google account or Samsung account), but as the example, we'll try to import .vcf files from the SD card to the phone storage by using the following steps:
  1. Open Contacts app.
  2. If needed, tap the Contacts tab.
  3. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  4. Tap Contacts.
  5. Tap Import/export.
  6. Tap Import from SD card. FYI, this option only available if you have inserted a SD card into your phone.
  7. Tap Device to import the contacts files from the SD card to the phone storage.
  8. If you only have a single vcf file in your SD card then the file will be imported directly. If you have some vcf files in your SD card then you'll be provided with the following options:
    • Import one vCard file: select this option if you want to import a single .vcf file in the SD card to the phone storage.
    • Import multiple vCard files: select this option if you want to more than one .vcf files in the SD card to the phone storage at once.
    • Import all vCard files: select this option if you want to import all .vcf files in the SD card to the phone storage at once.
  9. Tap OK button.
  10. If you have chosen to import one or multiple vCard files then you'll need to select which .vcf files you want to import and then tap OK button. If you have chosen to import all vCard files then all .vcf files in the SD card will be imported directly.
  11. The selected .vcf files have been imported to the phone storage.
