Samsung Galaxy S4: How to Change Sound Profile in Android 5.0.1 Lollipop

There are three sound profiles available in Samsung Galaxy S4. First, sound mode which will set your phone to play a sound for incoming calls, notifications, media and system. Second, vibration mode which will set your phone to play a sound for media, vibrate for incoming calls and notifications, but silence the system. Third, Silent mode(mute) which will set your phone to silence all sounds except the media. If needed, you can change the sound profile with ease according to your need, for instance, you can place your phone to the silent mode while you're in a meeting so that your phone won't play any sound or vibrate that can disturb others.


How to change the sound profile?
You can do so by using three different methods: from the notifications panel, from the quick settings panel and from the settings menu.


Method #1: From the notifications panel
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel.
  2. Tap Sound/Vibrate/Mute button to change the sound profile. The button will change depending on the sound profile you're using:
    • : this button will display when the sound profile is set to sound mode.
    • : this button will display when the sound profile is set to vibration mode.
    • : this button will display when the sound profile is set to silent mode.


Method #2: From the quick settings panel
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen using two fingers to open up the quick settings panel.
  2. Tap Sound/Vibrate/Mute button to change the sound profile. The button will change depending on the sound profile you're using:
    • : this button will display when the sound profile is set to sound mode.
    • : this button will display when the sound profile is set to vibration mode.
    • : this button will display when the sound profile is set to silent mode.


Method #3: From the settings menu
You can change the sound profile using the following steps if your Samsung Galaxy S4 has been updated to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notifications panel and then tap at the top right to go to the settings menu.
  2. Tap My device tab.
  3. Tap Sounds and notifications.
  4. Tap Interruptions.
  5. Tap Sound mode and then select from the following options:
    • Sound: select this option to place your phone in sound mode.
    • Vibrate: select this option to place your phone in vibration mode.
    • Mute: select this option to place your phone in silent mode.
